Science and faith can go together sans any sort of dispute or clash
Thiruvananthapuram. Close on the heels of the Chandrayan – 3 success, ISRO Chairman S. Somanath visited Pournamikkavu Sree Balathripurasundari Devi temple, Venganoor. His visit, on August 27, was to participate in the special pooja in the temple.
ISRO Chairman S. Somnath said, there is nothing wrong in naming, the spot of Chandrayan3’s soft landing, ‘Shivashakti’. That name is acceptable to all. Prime Minister has got every right to name so. The spot where Chandrayan-2 landed is named “Tiranga” by the Prime Minister. It is again a right step from the Prime Minister.
Chandrayan-3 had a full proof landing at 6.04 pm on August 23, as per the schedule. It was the result of a great blessing. That is why he was at the temple. Faith is his private affair. It does not adversely affect the science in any manner. Science and faith are two different sectors. No need of mixing them unnecessarily. For him, spiritual experiments and journey are very much equal to scientific experiments.
Somnath stated that messages keep on coming from the Pragyan Rover facility of Chandrayan-3. It will be dark in the moon after the first 14 days. Weather will be extreme cold during those days. Then the computer attached to the Rover will be in sleeping mode. If Rover can survive the weather, it will work for another 14 days. If so, it will be a great achievement for our country. ISRO Chairman’s visit to the temple once again underlined the truth that science and faith can go together sans any sort of dispute or clash. In another words, a scientist can work and live as a believer and a believer can work as a scientist. Faith, religion or religious observances do not tell the followers to remain idle and keep on praying. The only rule one has to obey is to keep them separate, without mixing them together. S. Somnath has shown to the entire world that one can carry faith and science together without diluting both. Tirupati temple
It should be remembered that an eight-member team of ISRO scientists went for darshan at Tirupati temple on the eve of the launch of Chandrayan-03. They had a miniature model of Chandrayan -3 with them during the darshan. It showed the ardent faith of the scientists in a super power which controls everything in this universe. But there were some people in our country who could not tolerate it.
