Maharashtra – ATS arrests 43 illegal Bangladeshi Nationals in December; Fake Documents Seized
Mumbai. ATS (Anti-Terrorism Squad) has arrested 43 Bangladeshi nationals residing illegally in various parts of the state during the month of December, with 19 FIRs filed. The agency has also seized fake documents, including Aadhar cards and other certificates, related to their credentials. In the last four days of December, the ATS has apprehended 9 Bangladeshi nationals.
The latest arrests, conducted over the last four days of 2024 with the assistance of local police in Mumbai, Nashik, Nanded, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, include eight men and one woman.
Officials revealed that the accused had acquired Aadhaar cards by submitting forged documents. Police have filed five cases against them under the Foreigners Act and other relevant legal provisions.
Earlier on 27 December, the ATS arrested 13 Bangladeshi nationals during the same special drive. These individuals were similarly charged under the Foreigners Act for illegal entry and possession of fraudulent Indian identity documents, such as Aadhaar cards.
In a similar development, Delhi Police on Tuesday deported a Bangladeshi mother-son duo. The woman had reportedly been residing in southwest Delhi since 2005 without valid documentation.
