Chennai/Kochi. Sayed Nabeel Ahmmed, Ameer (leader) of Thrissur Zonal module of terrorist outfit Islamic State (IS) has been arrested, on September 6, from Chennai by NIA. He is reported to have plotted to carry out terrorist activities in Kerala. He has been hiding in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. He was trying to flee the country. But he could not escape from the radar of NIA.
Reports suggest that his team had designs to loot ATM machines to organise funds for terror activities. One Ashraf had been nabbed by NIA in Kota in July 2023. He was alleged to have links with a plot to loot the ATM. Details regarding Nabeel was revealed during the interrogation of Ashraf.
Nabeel is alleged to have tried to flee the country using a fake passport. He had the plan to move to Nepal as a transit point. He was allegedly possessing some documents and electronic equipment. His hiding place is reported to be close to Sathyamangalam Forests, Tamil Nadu. NIA had caught hold of couple of ISI pro-terrorists from Sathyamangalam forests in July this year.
Nabeel and team had plotted to attack some places of worship and some community leaders. Houses of Nabeel and one Rayees were raided, in Thrissur and Palakkad respectively, by NIA. The raids were carried out close on the heels of Nabeel’s arrest. NIA have been closely watching the movements of about thirty people in the light of their telegraph chats with IS activists.
According to the reports, NIA had registered a case on July 11, 2023 under IPC and UAPA. They were under various sections and based on information got from various sources.
These latest information’s suggest that IS is intensifying its presence and network in Kerala. It vindicates what RSS, BJP, VHP and Hindu Aikya Vedi have been stating since the last couple of decades. Terrorists see Kerala as a safe haven as they do not have to face any political resistance other than that of RSS and other Sangh-inspired organisations. But BJP is nowhere near the power equations in the state. Kerala has been under the rule of two dominant political fronts since the very inception of the state in 1956. One led by Congress and the other by Communists. Even though the state witnessed lot of changes in the combinations, basically, the leaders of both fronts remained almost the same. Now, both fronts, Opposition Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) and ruling CPM-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) are competing each other to appease the anti-Hindu forces. Both fronts consider anti-Hindu forces as anti-Modi, anti-BJP and anti-RSS. In another words, they are after minority vote bank politics.
That is why both could pass unanimous resolution, in the assembly, in favour of Abdul Nasr Madani when he was in jail in connection with the fatal Coimbatore Bomb Blasts of 1998, an attempt to assassinate L.K. Advani. Due to the same reason, they unanimously passed resolutions against CAA, UCC and Farm Bills. But these steps were serving as shots in the arm for the anti-national forces. When PFI was banned last year, Kerala government was not enthusiastic to arrest the leaders and raid their offices immediately.
