Organized ani-Beijing struggles mooted in London hearing

Guwahati: Ongoing struggles of the peoples of Tibet, Hong Kong, Southern Mongolia, Taiwan along with the Uyghurs are proposed to be
united against the Communist China for the self-determination of freedom loving native peoples. All who suffer under the Beijing
administration should come together for their respective goals, echoed in Uyghur Tribunal that concluded on 7 June in England.
Various speakers at the Uyghur tribunal session, where Xinjiang concentration camp survivors shared their testimonies alongside the
analysis of genocide specialists, labor rights experts, and academics on the Uyghur region, emphasized on stringer movement as the Chinese
agencies strongly decried against the initiative. Uyghur Tribunal, a nine-member trial committee under the leadership of
prominent British lawyer Geoffrey Nice, is an independent people’s court whose members hold roles as academics, legal experts, human
rights defender and civil society leaders. It conducted the first session on 4 – 7 June at the Church headquarter.
It may be note that the people’s tribunals have historically been conducted in response to the alleged crimes of various global powers,
and its purpose is to investigate human rights abuses not yet addressed by respective governments or other concerned international
bodies. Communist China’s influence in global politics always becomes a
barrier to the effective utilization of international court systems such as International Court of Justice or International Criminal
Court, the people’s tribunal system emerges as a real opportunity to elicit an impartial legal judgment of the crimes masterminded by the
Beijing administration.
The second session of hearings of the tribunal is scheduled for 10-13 September and a final judgment whether China is committing genocide
against the minority Muslim Uyghurs can be expected by the end of 2021. If proven successful, the initiative could bring hopes for
other groups, including the agitating Tibetans, to put forward the human rights violations and criminal acts before a quasilegal body.
