Jammu Kashmir. The annual Shri Amarnath Yatra, which began on June 29, crossed the two-lakh mark in 10 days. Last year, 4.7 lakh pilgrims performed the Shri Amarnath Yatra.
The 52-day long yatra, which commenced on June 29, will conclude on August 19 (Shravan Purnima).
“On Monday, as many as 24,879 pilgrims undertook the yatra and had darshan of Baba Bholenath of the annual pilgrimage,” the officials said. They mentioned that the total number of pilgrims who have visited the 3,880-meter-high cave shrine has now reached 207,016.
On Wednesday morning, another batch of 4627 pilgrims left Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas base camp in Jammu for the Kashmir valley to perform pilgrimage to Amarnath Cave Shrine. The pilgrims left the base camp in a cavalcade of 185 vehicles early this morning. The batch included 3422 Men, 1027 Women, 26 Children, 137 Sadhus & 15 Sadhvies. Of these, 1854 pilgrims left for Baltal at 3:07 AM and 2773 for Pahalgam base camp at 3:33 AM from where they will proceed for their further journey to the holy cave.
Every day, thousands of pilgrims from across the country are arriving in Kashmir for the yatra, and the J&K government has made extensive arrangements for the convenience of the pilgrims.
