
16 year old girl of Assam tested COVID positive
A girl from Bongaigaon district in lower Assam has tested COVID-19 positive, and with this the state’s tally of COVID-19 patient reached 36. The girl is infected by a Nizamuddin Markaz attendee, this was informed by Assam Health Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma through his tweeter handle. He further informed that out of total 36 patients in the state, 8 are active cases, and one man from Hailakandi district died on April 10.
Health Minister Sarma tweeted- “Alert – A 16 year old girl from Salmara Bongaigaon, secondary contact of a Markaz attendee, has tested #COVID positive. The number of #COVID19 patients in Assam now stands at 36. However active hospital cases are 8. Update at 12:20 p.m / April 28″.
The 16 year old girl is the first COVID-19 case from Bongaigaon district in Assam. Nearby Dhubri and Goalpara districts reported many COVID-19 cases and both the districts are declared as Red Zones. As on date, 27 COVID-19 patients have been released from various hospitals in Assam after they tested Coronavirus negative.
On the other side, Assam is allowing opening of shops in rural areas of the state under non Red Zones from today. But restrictions on Red Zones districts are still in place. And no rural shops are allowed to open within 5 Kilometers from the borders of RED Zones districts. There are five Red Zones districts in Assam – Dhubri, Goalpara, Nalbari, Morigaon and Golaghat.
