Kochi (VSK). Senior RSS Pracharak Ranga Hari Ji said that “Fighters” carried out anti-Emergency struggle. It is not the history of the prisoners alone. It is the history of the Emergency Soldiers also, who worked underground, sans being jailed. He said so during his You Tube talk, organised by Vishwa Samvada Kendra, as part of his seven-day series of talks on Emergency.
The agitation RSS workers carried out, under the auspices of Lok Sangharsh Samiti (LSS), was more wide & comprehensive than the Quit India Movement of 1942. Police could not nab anyone except for those who were deployed to work aboveground. We had such a well-knit organisation.
Socialists were a ‘leaders-only-party’ and had no workers. Most of the leaders went to jail and to save their skin; but RSS swayamsevaks worked underground risking their life. As soon as Emergency was declared, an affluent, senior Socialist leader in Kerala, having large plantations, ran away to Tamil Nadu. CPM opted to keep quiet without offending India Gandhi hence they got quid pro quo, from Indira. There are several reasons for assuming that CPM betrayed the anti-Emergency struggle, just like the undivided CPI did to Quit India Agitation. Books authored by Advani and A.K Gopalan were taken to the prisoners by RSS workers. Deshabhimani daily, the mouthpiece of CPM, now boasts itself on top of its voice from the rooftops, but, during Emergency, it was kneeling. Deshabhimani was not ready even to carry the rousing Lok Sabha speech of A.K. Gopalan. And, it was carried by Kurukshetra, the underground newspaper printed, published and distributed by RSS swayamsevaks, Hariji added.
Hariji reminded that the history of the real and entire story of anti-Emergency Struggle should be brought to the light. All should know that the agitators were soldiers and not victims. The efforts of the women and the children should be recorded properly. The history should be prepared on national level.
