ABVP staged mass demonstrations across Karnataka demanding justice for Neha Hiremath, an MCA student of BVB College who was brutally murdered by her former classmate Mohammad Fayaz for rejecting his proposal.
During the protest ABVP expressed its concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the state and urged the government to take necessary action for restoring tranquillity. In addition to it student outfit demanded that the accused must be given the death penalty.
Neha Hiremath, 24, was an MCA student at BV Bhoomaraddi College. Her father Niranjan Hiremath is a councilor of Hubballi-Dharwad Municpality. The accused Mohammad Fayaz had proposed Neha several times and each time she rejected his proposals and even informed her family.
Fayaz blocked Neha, while she was leaving college after the exam on April 18. He then stabbed Neha several times in public. Though, she was rushed to hospital, her life could not be saved.
ABVP Karyakartas of Hubballi Mahanagar, North Karnataka Prant organised a protest condemning the tragic incident at B V Bhoomaraddi College of Engineering and Technology in Hubballi.
ABVP demanded that on-campus safety of girls should be the prime concern in an educational institution, the accused Fayaz must be put to fast-track legal proceeding and death penalty be awarded to him.
