Kerala – SDPI Activists Allegedly Attack Seva Bharati Ambulance in Pathanamthitta

Pathanamthitta, Kerala. An ambulance operated by Seva Bharati, transporting a patient to GMM Hospital, was reportedly attacked in Vaypur by a group of individuals allegedly affiliated with the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI). The incident occurred while the ambulance was en route with a patient who had collapsed during a temple festival in Kulathoor.

According to initial reports, a group of around ten individuals, led by a person previously accused in an attack on the residence of an RSS worker in Perumpara, Kottangal, intercepted the vehicle and physically assaulted the driver. The attackers also damaged the ambulance by smashing its windows. The injured driver, identified as Yadhu, was subsequently admitted to Mallappally Taluk Hospital for medical treatment.

Kottangal Panchayat, where some of the accused are reportedly based, has been under scrutiny following multiple investigations by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) after the ban on the Popular Front of India. Notably, this region has witnessed a series of incidents linked to extremist activities. One such event includes the controversial placement of a sticker reading “I am Babri” on a ten-year-old boy participating in the Sabarimala pilgrimage on December 6. The area is also home to one of the accused in the Abhimanyu murder case.

Authorities are currently investigating the incident, and further details are awaited.
