Sumedha Sharma stabbed to death by Johar Ganai

Jammu. In a shocking incident, 26year old Dr. Sumedha Sharma has been stabbed to death by Dr. Johar in Janipur (Jammu city). As per media reports, both had completed their BDS together from Seoura Jammu and knew each other very well.

Sumedha, a resident of Talab Tillo area of Jammu, was pursuing MDS from New Delhi and like every other kid had come to her native place to celebrate Holi with her family. Reportedly, on the morning of 7 March, she arrived at Jammu from New Delhi but instead of coming to her home, she directly went to Johar’s residence in Pamposh colony of Janipur, Jammu.

They had an altercation over some issue and in a fit of rage, Johar stabbed her in abdomen brutally with butcher’s knife and killed her.

However, the accused after slaughtering Sumedha tried to attempt suicide and injured himself. Before attempting suicide, he posted on social media that he is fed up of his life so he is committing suicide. One of Johar’s relatives happened to see the post and he informed the Janipur Police station.

Police rushed to the house but found the main gate locked from outside. They broke into the house and found the accused injured with stab injuries. Police also found dead body of Sumedha lying nearby in a pool of blood with stab injuries in abdomen.

Police shifted both of them to the Government Medical College Jammu where Johar is admitted in the ICU whereas Sumedha’s body after postmortem was handed over to her family for last rites.

Police has registered a case under relevant sections of the law against Johar and further investigation is on. As per initial investigation, both were dating for past quite some time but it is job of the police to find out what led to this horrific incident.
