Thiruvananthapuram (VSK). A new twist has come up in the case pertaining to the suicide of Asmiyamol (17) at a Madarsa in Al Aman Campus in Balaramapuram, Thiruvananthapuram. Reports suggest that according to post mortem reports, she underwent sexual abuse. Police has registered POCSO case against Hashim Khan, young man belonging to Poonthura.
According to police, the abuse had occurred before she had joined Madarsa. Hashim reportedly told the police that they had only a friendship in between and he had not done anything wrong. Now, police investigate to find out if something went wrong when she was in the Madarsa.
We had reported the mysterious death of Asmiya a fortnight ago. There were reports that Asmiyamol had called her mother and asked her to take her home. Even though mother Rahmath reached there in one and half hour, she was not permitted to see her daughter, it was alleged. Later on, the family members were informed that Asmiyamol had committed suicide. After the tragedy, Asmiya’s family members reportedly raised allegations against Al Aman Charitable Trust. They alleged that mental torture she underwent there led to the suicide. Then comes the shocking news.
Severe criticisms were raised by Asmiya’s family against Al Aman. They had accused that an Ustad and a teacher had mentally tortured her. There are reports that just after the death of Asmiyamol, police had forwarded a letter to the District Collector which stated that Madarsa did not have approval to function. That is, the institution was not approved by education department or social welfare department; it did not have approval for maintaining hostel or other educational institutions. It was followed by strong demand to investigate which department had approved the Madarsa’s functioning.
