Bhagyanagar, Telangana. Since the launch of Dharani portal, it has become a source of frustration for the people. The Telangana government has been disregarding the concerns raised by farmers on this portal. Moreover, the grand promises of digitalization of land records by the state government have proven to be unsuccessful due to several unresolved issues in land transactions.
Now, a father attempted to gift a portion of his own two-acre land to his daughter as a marriage gift. However, his efforts were unsuccessful because the land in question was listed as an Islamic Waqf property on Telangana’s online digital land records portal known as Dharani.
This incident involves V. Laxma Reddy, a resident of Rangareddy district, and Raithu Bandhu Samanvay Samiti President, who brought up this matter with the district Collector, during the centenary celebrations of Telangana state formation on June 10, 2023. Laxma Reddy also mentioned that the Stamps and Registration department had prevented the transfer of the land title for his personal property.
Laxma Reddy expressed astonishment at how his own land had been designated as Waqf land, despite there being no such land in his location. He described the Dharani portal as a source of immense hardship for people, given the numerous unresolved land issues it has created.
